Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and senior Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday (April 5, 2026) alleged an implicit alliance between the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a major election roadshow in Kannur. He also said the United Democratic Front (UDF) is poised to secure a two-thirds majority in the Assembly elections.

The roadshow, organised in support of UDF candidate in Kannur constituency T.O. Mohanan, began near the old bus stand and drew a large turnout of party workers and supporters.

Addressing the media during the event, Mr. Shivakumar accused the BJP of using central investigative agencies and the Enforcement Directorate to target opposition leaders across the country.

He said Congress leaders and other political opponents of the BJP are facing cases and arrests in other States. However, in Kerala, the situation is different. “This raises serious questions and suggests that the BJP is extending support to the LDF in the State,” he added.
