Kanniyakumari District Collector R. Alagumeena participated in the Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) awareness event organised in Sanguthurai beach on Saturday and appeals to fishermen in Pallamthurai to cast their votes.

She said that as per the guidelines of Election Commission of India (ECI), various voter’s awareness programmes have been organised across the district, through various methods, with the participation of college students, women of Self Help Groups (SHGs), volunteers, tribals and staff from several other departments.

Ms. Algumeena stated that in Kanniyakumari district special focus has been given to attract voters from sections such as youngsters, elderly and differently abled people. Various awareness campaigns are being organised in public places through art forms such as folk dance, sand art and others. Along with this flex boards and posters were installed across the district.

She also visited the Pallamthurai coastal village and appealed to the fishermen to cast their votes on April 23, through their respective polling stations.
