AIADMK candidate Thalavai Sundaram of Kanniyakumari Assembly constituency has intensified his grassroot mobilisation, as part of his campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections.

He visited villages such as Panchalingapuram, Mahadhanapuram and Maharajapuram where he met the villagers and sought their support in the upcoming election.

Addressing the villagers, he said that the DMK government has failed to deliver benefits to the people. “In particular it spreads false information claiming that the central government has discontinued the 100-day employment scheme. However, in reality the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended the scheme to 125 days, safeguarding the welfare of poor people,” he added.

He noted that the DMK government has also failed to fulfil the promises made during the previous election, and in five years it has accumulated a debt burden of ₹10 lakh crore.

Mr. Sundaram further said, “I took several initiatives to rescue the fishermen of coastal villages in Kanniyakumari district, who were stranded in Iran amid the war situation. These efforts were carried out through the central government and the credit goes to Bharatiya Janata Party.”

He further appealed to the villagers to elect him to restore the schemes introduced during the tenure of late Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
