Hyderabad is generating lakhs of crores of revenue for Telangana, and Amaravati will do the same upon its completion for Andhra Pradesh, asserts I&PR Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy. | Photo Credit: File Photo Andhra Pradesh I&PR Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy said on Sunday that YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s “drama of decentralisation” was built on lies and that he betrayed the people’s trust by proposing the three-capital plan, which had few parallels in the world. Addressing the media at the TDP central office, near Mangalagiri, Mr. Parthasarathy criticised Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy for making serious mistakes and justifying them later on strange grounds. “The former Chief Minister has least regard for public opinion,” the Minister said, and slammed the YSRCP chief for suggesting that the area between Vijayawada, Guntur and Machilipatnam, which he coined as ‘MAVIGUN’, be developed as the capital. Mr. Parthasarathy said Amaravati was a symbol of self-respect, and recalled how Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu got vast tracts of land pooled for construction of the capital city. He noted that Hyderabad was generating lakhs of crores of revenue for Telangana, and Amaravati would do the same upon its completion. Revenue from Amaravati was estimated to be ₹5 lakh crore, he said, while insisting that it (the upcoming greenfield capital) was a self-financing project. Highlighting the progress made during the 20 months of the coalition government assuming office, Mr. Parthasarathy said funds were secured on a large scale from the Centre, which the YSRCP dispensation failed to do. “Investor confidence has been restored after TDP and its allies came to power in 2024,” he stated, adding that Mr. Naidu was moving forward with a vision even as Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy continued to play politics.
