Chennai Metro Rail’s tunnelling work for the phase II project from Thiruvanmiyur to Taramani has run into delays due to a snag with the tunnel boring machine (TBM).

The 118.9-km phase II project will have three corridors — Madhavaram to SIPCOT (corridor 3), Poonamallee to Light House (corridor 4), and Madhavaram to Sholinganallur (corridor 5). Work on both elevated and underground structures for the project has been in progress for a couple of years now.
