58 nominations filed for five Assembly segments in Tirunelveli

A total of 58 nominations were filed on Saturday for the five Assembly constituencies in the district for the April 23 Assembly elections.

Candidates filed 15 nominations for Tirunelveli, 10 for Palayamkottai and Ambasamudram each, 16 for Nanguneri and seven for Radhapuram on Saturday.

DMK candidate S. Subramanian, AIADMK’s N. Ganesaraja, and TVK candidates R.S. Murughan filed their papers in Tirunelveli. In Ambasamudram, AIADMK’s Esakki Subaya, Bahujan Samaj Party’s R. Esaikannan and TVK’s S. Rajagopal were among those filed their nomnations.

AIADMK candidate Syed Sultan Samsudeen, TVK’s S. Maria John, NTK’s S. Sankaranarayanan, T.A. Umar of Thamizhaga Vaazhvurimai Katchi filed their nominations in Palayamkottai.

Ruby R. Manoharan of the Congress, Reddiyarpatti V. Narayanan of of the TVK, R. Janarthanan of the BSP, S. Vellaildorai of Sasikala’s All India Puratchi Thalaivar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, and Chithirai Selvan of Thamizhaga Vaazhvurimai Katchi were among those who filed their nominations in Nanguneri.

In Radhapuram, the candidates who filed their papers included D. Girija Thamarajpandian of the NTK, Sathish Christopher of the TVK.

Esakki Subaya, who filed his nomination for Ambasamudram constituency as AIADMK candidate, has declared movable assets worth ₹2.54 crore in his name and immovable assets worth ₹23.15 crore. He has loans amounting to ₹1.08 crore.

Nanguneri Congress candidate and builder Ruby R. Manoharan has declared moveable assets worth ₹42.58 crore in his name and ₹38.22 crore in his wife’s name and immovable assets worth ₹22.27 crore in his name and ₹38.40 crore in his wife’s name. The couple have loans amounting ₹22 crore.

TVK candidate for Tirunelveli and one of the leading highways contractors R.S. Murughan has declared movable assets worth ₹2.51 crore in his name and ₹61.72 crore in his wife Sindhu’s name. Mr. Murughan has immovable assets worth ₹16.50 crore and his wife has ₹77.73 crore. They have to pay loan of ₹58 crore.

TVK candidate for Palayamkottai constituency S. Maria John, a builder-cum-timber importer, has declared movable assets worth ₹18.93 crore in his name and ₹9.28 crore in his wife’s name. Mr. Maria John possesses ₹63 crore-worth immovable assets and his wife has Rs. 18.54 crore-worth assets. The couple have liabilities of ₹9.85 crore.

In Tenkasi district, 32 nominations were filed on Saturday.
