A total of 149 candidates filed their nominations in Salem and Namakkal districts on Saturday (April 4, 2026). The filing of nominations for the Assembly elections, which is to be held on April 23, 2026, began on March 30. On the third day, on Saturday, in Salem district, 99 candidates filed their nominations, including 19 in Salem West, 14 in Salem North, 13 in Salem South, 11 in Omalur, eight in Edappadi, seven each in Attur (SC), Yercaud (ST), and Veerapandi, five each in Gangavalli (SC) and Sankari and three candidates in Mettur. On Saturday, candidates belonging to the AIADMK, DMK, TVK, PMK, and PMK (Dr. Ramadoss’s faction) filed their nominations. Similarly, In Namakkal district, 50 candidates filed their nominations on Saturday, including 18 candidates in Tiruchengode, nine candidates in Paramathi Velur, seven candidates in Kumarapalayam, six candidates in Namakkal and five candidates each in Rasipuram (SC) and Sendamangalam (ST), respectively.
