The film reunites Mammootty and Mohanlal— two stalwarts of the Malayalam film industry — after more than 13 years. Patriot is directed by Mahesh Narayanan. The movie, also starring Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Darshana Rajendran, Kunchacko Boban and Revathy, will hit the screen on May 01, 2026. It was earlier scheduled to release on April 23, 2026. The trailer promises a gripping thriller that revolves around cybercrime through a covert surveillance conspiracy. Touted to be an espionage action drama, Patriot has Mammootty playing a retired officer Dr Daniel James, who gets falsely framed for treason. Mammootty’s character looks to an old friend, a soldier, for support. The character is essayed by Mohanlal. The trailer shows the two central characters out on a mission to ensure national security. Anto Joseph and KG Anil Kumar are the producers of Patriot. The movie is co-produced by CR Saleem and Subhash George Manuel. Sushin Shyam has scored the music for the movie while Mahesh Narayanan and Rahul Radhakrishnan have edited the film. Describing his decision to bring the two Ms of the Malayalam film industry for Patriot, Mahesh Narayanan had said at the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes) that the story demanded their presence.
