Two youths from Fort Kochi were arrested with 550 grams of suspected MDMA worth lakhs in a joint operation by the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) and the Angamaly police on Friday (April 3, 2026), according to the Ernakulam Rural police. The accused are Muhsin, 28, of Kunnumpuram and Muhammed Sahil, 25, of Thuruthy. The police said the duo had procured the synthetic drug from Bengaluru and travelled up to Vaniyambara on a bike. They later switched to a taxi and were on their way to Kochi to sell the contraband when they were intercepted at Angamaly and taken into custody. The suspected drug was found concealed in a specially made compartment in a flask. The police suspect that the duo were key links in a drug distribution network in the city and were habitual traffickers. The operation was conducted on a tip-off received by District Police Chief (Ernakulam Rural) K.S. Sudarshan. An investigation is on into the case by a team comprising DySPs J. Umesh Kumar and Babukutty and Angamaly Inspector A. Ramesh.
