MP K. Kanimozhi addressing an election campaign at Chinnalapatti near Dindigul on Friday. DMK MP K. Kanimozhi on Friday said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) stood against the interests of Tamil people. She urged the people to teach a fitting lesson, in the 2026 Assembly elections, to those who act against the welfare of Tamil Nadu. Addressing election campaigns canvassing votes for DMK candidates in Dindigul district, Ms. Kanimozhi said that AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami had not only betrayed the people of Tamil Nadu but had also betrayed his own party. She said under the DMK regime several welfare schemes, including women centric projects, were implemented. “When the DMK is voted back to power these schemes will be continued to be implemented for the welfare of the people,” she said. The BJP does not work for the welfare of anyone. During demonetisation, people were standing and waiting endlessly in queues in front of banks. During COVID-19 pandemic, people were standing in queues waiting for oxygen cylinders and medicines and now they were standing in queues waiting for gas cylinders, she charged. The BJP-led Central government had not released funds that were rightfully due to Tamil Nadu. They were replacing the MGNREGA scheme and the State governments would no longer have any authority to decide on the implementation of the scheme, she said. However, Mr.Palaniswami continued to remain silent on these issues. He could become a Governor in future. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were visiting Tamil Nadu as if they were tourists. They are not interested in addressing the issues of the people of Tamil Nadu, she said.
