The incumbent MLA and DMK candidate for Madurai Central Assembly constituency Palanivel Thiaga Rajan began his campaign in the city on Friday.

Mr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services in the DMK government, secured his second consecutive victory in 2021, following his initial win in 2016.

He is slated to contest against film producer, director and actor Sundar. C, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate. Mr. Sundar. C has been nominated by the Puthiya Needhi Katchi (New Justice Party).

Despite a shift in the constituency’s political climate following the announcement of filmmaker Sundar. C as his opponent, Mr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan remains confident that his track record of dedicated service will secure him a third consecutive term.

On Friday, kick-starting his campaign from Sangeetha Vinayagar Kovil, and moving through Karuga Pillaikara Street, Murugan Kovil Street, Sappani Kovil Street, Rakappan Chavadi, Vadaku Perumal Mestri Veethi, West Masi Street, and Ramayana Chavadi, he ended the campaign at Sangeetha Vinagayar Kovil Street.
