I-T officials seize ₹49 lakh from a house in Lalgudi

The Income Tax officials on Friday seized ₹49 lakh from a house in Lalgudi in Tiruchi district.

According to sources, acting on a complaint received at the Election Control Room that a huge amount of cash was kept in a house to distribute it to the voters, a team of I-T officials carried out a check at the house of Neelamegam and found ₹49,15,500 in it. The person, who was in possession of the cash, did not have proper documents to keep such a huge amount at home. Following this, the officials seized the cash. Further investigation was on.
