With fresh MAUD guidelines in place, the civic body is preparing for a comprehensive delimitation exercise, marking its third ward restructuring in nine years | Photo Credit: File photo The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is set to increase its number of wards from 98 to around 120 or more, in accordance with fresh guidelines issued by the State government. This will be the third such revision in the past nine years. Prior to 2017, Visakhapatnam had 72 wards, which were increased to 81 that year. The number was further raised to 98 in 2020 following the merger of several surrounding villages and a steady rise in population.
