Former Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde collapsed at an event after delivering a speech in the city on Friday and was subsequently hospitalised. The incident occurred at Kondajji Basappa Hall, where a felicitation programme for P.G.R. Sindhia was being held. Mr. Hegde, who was one of the guests at the event, suddenly took ill and collapsed on the stage just after speaking. Those present at the venue rushed to his aid and shifted him to the nearby Manipal Hospital on MIllers’ Road. Speaker of the Legislative Assembly U.T. Khader, who was also present at the programme, personally took Mr. Hegde to the hospital in his car. Hospital authorities said he is doing fine and was treated in the Emergency Room (ER) under the supervision of emergency care consultant Harshita. Not revealing the cause of his sudden collapse, the hospital authorities said his condition improved in sometime and he was later discharged.
