A review meeting to take stock of election-related work was held by the District Election Officer and Nilgiris District Collector, Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, with all election nodal officers in Udhagamandalam on April 2, 2026 (Thursday). In a press release, the district administration said that the Collector informed all election nodal officers present at the meeting to carefully plan and carry out tasks assigned to them. She also said that immediate action must be taken on complaints through the cVIGIL mobile application, where members of the public can report violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). “In particular, complaints related to election code violations such as posters, banners, should be taken seriously and reporter paraphernalia must be removed through the concerned local body officials. Complaints regarding cash and gift items should be acted upon through the flying squad teams,” the Collector informed. Officials concerned must inspect and ensure that all polling stations have basic facilities such as ramp, drinking water, toilets, electricity, and other necessary amenities, she added Applications received from political parties through the Suvidha portal must also be acted on swiftly and officials were directed to monitor whether campaign activities were conducted according to the permissions granted in the applications. Further, in coordination with election officials and with the help of volunteers, arrangements must be made so that elderly persons and tea estate workers can easily travel to polling stations and cast their votes. If required, transportation facilities must be arranged through the Transport Department. To create awareness among voters about the importance of voting, students must also be involved in awareness activities, the District Election Officer said.
