Five leaders from Karnataka have found a place in an advisory council for the minority department constituted by the All India Congress Committee (AICC). Rajya Sabha member Syed Naseer Hussain, former minister K. Rahman Khan, Energy Minister K.J. George, Housing and Minorities Affairs Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmad and MLA N.A. Haris were appointed as members of the advisory council, according to a communication from AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal. The 60-member council brings together a cross-section of senior party figures, former ministers and sitting legislators with long-standing associations with minority affairs and broader Congress politics. The council’s constitution has been approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
