Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav announced that the A.P. State AIDS Control Society (APSACS) has secured first position in the country in controlling HIV cases and providing medical services.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, April 2, the Minister said that a performance review of all AIDS control societies for the period between April and December 2025 was recently conducted by the National AIDS Control Organisation(NACO).

Following the review, the NACO announced the rankings. Andhra Pradesh emerged at the top with a score of 107 points out of a total of 141, across 33 indicators. The Minister said the State is ahead in 25 out of the 33 indicators.

The Minister said that this is a significant improvement from the end of the financial year 2024-25, when the State ranked 12th in the country. In the financial year 2025–26, APSACS began implementing systematic measures to control HIV cases and provide better healthcare services.

According to the press release, NACO evaluates the performance of State AIDS control societies every three months and publishes cumulative scorecards. The Minister said that the State is leading in conducting HIV testing for prisoners, regular testing of residents in orphanages, and trafficked women and children in juvenile homes.
