FCRA amendment is being proposed with an ulterior motive, charges Appavu

Alleging that the attempt to make amendments in the Union Government’s Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) have been aimed at strangulating educational institutions, hospitals and homes being run by the Christians, Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M. Appavu has said the BJP and the RSS never wanted the children of common man getting a proper education.

Addressing the media, Mr. Appavu said the Roman Catholic and CSI Diocese administrations were running educational institutions, hospitals and homes for the orphans, abandoned senior citizens and chronically ill patients with major contributions from the locals while getting trivial foreign assistance being received only through banks. They were maintaining proper accounting for these assistances they received and the expenditure, which was being cross-checked by external auditing by the government agencies.
