The Kalaburagi Bench of the Karnataka Information Commission has disposed of 1,079 cases over 71 working days in the past five months, State Information Commissioner B. Venkat Singh has said.

In a press release, Mr. Singh noted that 2,520 cases were taken up for hearing between November 24, 2025 and the end of March 2026.

Of these cases, 1,079 have been disposed of.

He said that fines amounting to ₹2.28 lakh have been imposed during this period. Additionally, compensation totalling ₹34,000 has been awarded to applicants who suffered time and financial losses due to delays in providing information.

Mr. Singh said that priority has been given to clearing long-pending cases, including those that remained unresolved for nearly a decade.

He added that the commission will now focus on expediting hearings of newly filed cases to ensure quicker disposal and timely access to information for applicants.
