Veena on Thursday said consistent practice coupled with steadfast dedication is key to cracking competitive examinations. She was addressing the valedictory function of a coaching camp for IAS and KAS aspirants organised by the Competitive Examination Training Centre of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU). On the occasion, she also released study material- Mukta Bhandara- prepared by the centre. Highlighting the evolving nature of examinations such as the UPSC Civil Services Examination and KPSC KAS Examination, Ms. Veena said that aspirants must adapt to changing question patterns and adopt a disciplined approach to preparation. She stressed the importance of regular study habits, following daily newspapers, and staying updated on current affairs from at least the past five years. Encouraging students to stay motivated, she advised them to identify role models, recalling how she drew inspiration from IPS officer Kiran Bedi during her own preparation. She also cautioned candidates against distractions, urging them to remain focused on their goals. “Three years of dedicated effort now can secure the next 30 years of your life,” she remarked. Joint Commissioner of the Commercial Taxes Department M. Balasubrahmanya described competitive exams as a demanding journey that requires perseverance. He advised aspirants to prepare notes, analyse previous years’ question papers, and enhance communication skills alongside their academic preparation. Vice-Chancellor Sharanappa V. Halase called upon students to remain confident and determined in their pursuit of success. Registrar S.K. Naveen Kumar, Dean Ramanatham Nayak, Jainahalli Satyanarayana Gowda of the training centre, and other faculty members were present.
