C.M. Sai Kanth Varma, a 2015-batch IAS officer, assumed charge as the new District Collector of Guntur on Wednesday (April 1), stating that he would strive for the all-round development of the district and ensure effective delivery of government services to the people.

Speaking to media after taking charge, he said it was an honour to serve an important district and affirmed that he would work in line with the government’s vision, including Swarna Andhra Vision @ 2047, while focusing on improving public satisfaction over welfare and development programmes. He emphasised coordinated efforts involving public representatives, officials and citizens to enhance governance.

Soon after assuming office, the Collector held a review meeting with district officials, directing them to ensure efficient service delivery. He stressed that department heads must have complete knowledge of their sectors and that official information should be communicated through proper channels. A district review meeting has been scheduled for April 7.

Later, the Collector distributed NTR Bharosa pensions in Gundaraopet, interacting with beneficiaries. He said pensions worth ₹110.50 crore would be distributed to 2,53,379 beneficiaries and instructed officials to ensure smooth disbursal.
