Palaniswami charged Chief Minister M. K. Stalin for creating unsafe environment for children, women and elderly of the State. Speaking in Sivaganga in support of Sivaganga AIADMK candidate P. R. Senthilnathan, Karaikudi AMMK candidate Therbhogi Pandi, and the BJP candidates for Tirupattur and Manamadurai, on Wednesday, he said, “While Stalin says there is blood on my hands, in the last five years of DMK rule, 18,000 children have been victims of sexual assault. Through the courts, 6,000 people have received compensation. The Social Welfare Minister herself stated that ₹84 crore in compensation was provided in 6,999 POCSO cases. When those 18,000 affected children cried out ‘Appa, Appa,’ it did not reach your ears.” In Sivaganga district, ganja and drug addicts have brutally hacked people standing on the road. A false theft case was filed against temple watchman Ajith Kumar, and he was murdered in the name of investigation. In Manamadurai, a youth named Akash was beaten to death by the police. This is what ‘blood-stained hands’ looks like, he observed. “Because he is a ‘puppet Chief Minister,’ he cannot even govern properly. Does a government that cannot appoint a permanent DGP for law and order even after being told by the court need to exist?.” Mr. Palaniswami questioned. He alleged that within a month of DMK coming to power in 2021, ganja sales started in every nook and corner. As the Leader of the Opposition, he recalled, he spoke in the Assembly to curb the sale of ganja; because no action was taken, Tamil Nadu has turned into a State full of drugs. “Crimes like murder and robbery are committed by drug addicts. Since drugs are sold with the support of DMK executives, the police are unable to stop it. Even the police are being attacked by drug addicts,” he added. Vowing to transform Tamil Nadu into a drug-free State, he assured that within three months of AIADMK forming the government, drugs will be completely eradicated. When former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa was in power, an Industrial Investment Conclave was held, attracting ₹2,42,000 crore and 74 MoUs were signed. And, During his tenure, ₹3.05 lakh crore in investment was attracted, 304 MoUs were signed, and thousands of people got jobs. But, last year, when the DMK announced that ₹15 lakh crore in investment would be attracted, providing jobs to 35 lakh people, it took three years to start an industry, but they claimed they started businesses immediately and gave jobs to 35 lakh people, he claimed. “According to their data, 90,000 people per district should have received jobs,” he stated. Last time, DMK announced that jewellery loans for less than five sovereigns in cooperative banks would be waived. “Believing them, many family pledged jewellery. But then they said it was only for one person per family. Out of 48 lakh people who pledged, only 15 lakh got the waiver. Because of this, the jewellery of many was auctioned; now that the gold price has increased threefold, they cannot buy it back,” he observed. “If I am ‘Sanghi’ as Stalin labelled, then who are Karunanidhi and Murasoli Maran who shared dais with the former BJP leader Vajpayee,” he questioned.
