Lakshmikanth Reddy urged citizens to furnish accurate information, stating that data would help the government frame welfare schemes. Addressing a press conference at his office on Wednesday (April 1), he said the Census 2027 exercise provides vital insights into people’s living conditions, enabling the government to frame effective programmes. The census will be conducted in two phases. The first phase — self-enumeration, followed by house listing and housing census — will be carried out from April 1 to May 15. The second phase, involving individual enumeration, is scheduled for February 2027. The Deputy Commissioner said citizens can participate in self-enumeration from April 1 to 15 by logging on to the official portal www.se.census.gov.in and responding to 33 questions related to housing and household conditions. He appealed to the public to take part in large numbers. For the smooth implementation of the exercise, the district administration has created 6,013 enumeration blocks and deployed a total of 7,748 personnel, including 6,540 enumerators and 1,207 supervisors, all of whom are being trained for the exercise. The census aims to collect comprehensive data on literacy, education, housing, urbanisation, fertility, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, language, religion, migration, disability, and other socio-economic and cultural parameters. Mr. Reddy said active participation by citizens will be crucial for the success of the census. P. Shivaraju, Mysuru Additional Deputy Commissioner, and G.S. Somashekar, Mysuru City Census Officer and MCC Deputy Commissioner, were present.
