The ornate sculpture probably belongs to the later Chola period. A stone sculpture of Ayyanar, probably dating back to the later Chola period, has been found by a history enthusiast at Arumbavur village in Perambalur district. The statue was found in a private agricultural land, adjoining Arumbavur Small Tank, by Mahatma Selvapandian.
