Kochi: The “God of Death” (Yaman) was spotted making noticeable appearances across various parts of Kochi city, including Marine Drive, Edappally, and Fort Kochi, in recent days. Local people who interacted with him reported that the God of Death appeared to be in a state of deep distress and anxiety.

The source of his concern? The Oommen Chandy Health Insurance Scheme, announced by the UDF, which offers coverage of up to Rs 25 lakh. With the UDF expected to come to power next month, the God of Death fears that he will soon be unemployed or rather lose his job. The God says that this new insurance plan will empower people to prioritize their health and lead significantly longer lives. His greatest fear is that such a move will cause the mortality rate to plummet.

Named after the late, immensely popular leader Oommen Chandy, the scheme promises comprehensive insurance cover of Rs 25 lakh. It is widely expected to be a quantum leap for Kerala’s healthcare sector.

The Oommen Chandy Health Insurance Scheme is a flagship proposal by the UDF aimed at ensuring total health security for every citizen in Kerala. The initiative is designed to help those who often postpone medical care due to high costs or ignore minor ailments, allowing them to seek the best treatments on time and ensure a speedy recovery.
