AIADMK leader R.B. Udhayakumar at an election campaign in Thirumangalam on Tuesday. AIADMK leader R.B. Udhayakumar has criticised the DMK for copying its election manifesto. He said it was only after AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami announced ₹10,000 to the families affected by the impact of inflation and tax hikes during the DMK regime that DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced a ₹8,000 coupon to all non-Income Tax paying homemakers for buying or replacing home appliances. Mr. Udhayakumar, who will be contesting the elections from the Thirumangalam Assembly constituency in Madurai district, began his campaign on Monday. As part of the campaign, he continued to visit the places under the constituency on Tuesday. Under the DMK regime, the people faced several hardships, particularly due to the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities. To alleviate the problem faced by the people, Mr. Palaniswami had made the announcement for the welfare of the people, he said. However, Mr. Stalin has copied the AIADMK’s election manifesto. Why did the DMK not implement it in the five years of its rule ?, he asked. No matter how many more announcements they make, the DMK will not return to power, he said, adding that the DMK had not fulfilled its poll promises made in 2021. He said under the DMK regime, women were lacking safety and security and the law and order situation was rapidly deteriorating. This situation will be rectified when the AIADMK-led alliance comes to power, he said He said in Thirumangalam Assembly constituency, the AIADMK had successfully implemented several projects. He said that after coming to power the AIADMK will take necessary steps to implement the Madurai Metro Rail project. He expressed confidence that the AIADMK will easily win the Thirumangalam Assembly constituency by at least 50,000 votes.
