“Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has created a record in the country by getting ₹5 Lakh Crore in just five years,” remarked former Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Campaigning at Paramakudi Assembly Constituency in support of three AIADMK candidates contesting in the Ramanathapuram district here on Tuesday, he said, while the previous governments in the past 73 years did not achieve this ‘target’ of doubling the State’s debt through unprecedented borrowing, Mr. Stalin was able to accomplish it in just five years.

While the loan was boasted as for the upliftment of the Tamil Nadu people, it was actually for the family of the Chief Minister and his son, he alleged.

Mr. Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Deputy Chief Minister, with just a few years of experience in politics was easily able to overshadow DMK’s ministers with decades of experience, he noted.

The DMK MLAs and ministers amassing wealth for their own good could not digest the fact that their corruption was officially going to end and they were eventually going to end up in prison when the AIADMK government assumes charge, he stated.

“DMK government which claims to have made an impactful change has forgot that the AIADMK government under my chief ministership managed to open 11 Government Medical College Hospitals, six law colleges, 68 arts and science colleges, 21 polytechnic colleges, four agricultural research centres,” Mr. Palaniswami observed.

The significant developments in the State without much noise made a massive change to the people. But, DMK government by pushing the State into massive debt just for publicity and popularity, he charged.

He alleged that the ₹14,000-crore Cauvery-Vaigai-Gundar river-linking project, designed to transform the State’s agricultural landscape, was stalled by the DMK government solely due to petty political rivalry.

Similarly, several government schools established under the previous AIADMK tenure have drawn criticism from the current School Education Minister, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi.

Responding to these critiques, Mr. Palaniswami recalled, “While our motive was to ensure education reached even the most remote populations, they now mockingly claim they cannot manage these schools due to their sheer number.”

Keeping all such things in mind, the electorates should be decisive about who they were going to choose in the upcoming elections, he asserted.
