In view of the rising temperatures during the peak summer months, the State government has revised working time for government offices in select districts of North Karnataka starting Wednesday. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, the new working hours will be from 8 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. for April and May 2026. The revised time will be applicable to all districts of Kalaburagi Division and to Vijayapura and Bagalkot districts in Belagavi Division. The order, issued by Under Secretary Vimalakshi B., stated that government employees must discharge their duties without any disruption during the revised working hours. It also directed that public services should not be affected due to the change in working hours. Officials have also been instructed to attend to work beyond the prescribed hours in case of emergencies, as directed by Deputy Commissioners or Chief Executive Officers of Zilla Panchayats. The move aims to safeguard employees from extreme heat conditions while ensuring uninterrupted administrative functioning.
