While a few Class 10 students said they have lost the opportunity to get a good score with the government deciding to give grades, instead of marks, for the third language, while some students were least concerned about the decision.

Of the 28421 class 10 students from Dakshina Kannada, 28,188 wrote the third language SSLC examination papers, and 233 were absent on Tuesday. In the Udupi district, 13,712 students wrote, and 62 were absent. The third language papers were in Kannada, Hindi, Tulu, Konkani, Sanskrit, Arabic, and Urdu subjects.
