Mayor Devarakonda Sujatha presented the budget for the financial year 2026–27 during the special annual budget meeting held at the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Council Conference Hall of the Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Tuesday (March 31, 2026). The new budget prioritises the planned development of infrastructure facilities across the city. According to the budget, the NMC’s total revenue is estimated at ₹492.76 crore including the opening balance of ₹126.40 crore, while total expenditure is proposed at ₹473.31 crore. The budget was approved by the Council through a resolution. NMC Commissioner Y.O. Nandan, corporators of various divisions, and senior officials of all departments were present. The Mayor announced that the suggestions and recommendations of Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Administration Dr. P. Narayana, Rural Constituency MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, and MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy were incorporated into the formulation of the budget. She further said that the budget allocations were made to achieve development in all sectors along with the welfare of the people.
