The district committee of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) has decided to disband the SFI unit committee at University College following a series of allegations of internal conflicts and financial irregularities. The decision was taken at an emergency meeting convened to address controversies surrounding the college unit.

In the wake of the dissolution, an ad hoc committee has been formed to coordinate organisation activities on the campus. The district committee also resolved to institute an inquiry into the financial allegations linked to the disbanded unit.

According to sources, the move comes in the wake of repeated incidents of unrest on the campus, which have drawn sharp criticism and, according to the leadership, caused damage to the organisation’s public image. The SFI leadership reportedly assessed that the recurring clashes at University College had negatively impacted the organisation’s credibility. The decision to initiate strict corrective measures was apparently taken in line with party directives.

Certain incidents contributed to the decision, including clashes over the issue of unauthorised residence at the hostel. There were also allegations that unit office-bearers assaulted a district-level leader who arrived to mediate and resolve the dispute.
