RAJU The city police, citing a rise in road accidents largely attributed to over-speeding, have revised and standardised speed limits across Visakhapatnam. With the induction of three high-speed laser guns and an upgraded CCTV surveillance network, authorities have made it clear that violations will be strictly enforced. Under the new norms, a uniform speed limit of 40 kmph has been imposed on several key stretches. These include the NH 16 corridor from Kurmannapalem Junction to Kommadi Junction, and the Beach Road stretches from Fishing Harbour to Rushikonda and from Rushikonda to Bheemunipatnam. All municipal roads and BRTS corridors will also have a speed cap of 40 kmph. However, the BRTS stretch between Pendurthi and Baji Junction has been given a slightly higher limit of 50 kmph.
