Women achievers from various fields were felicitated at an International Women’s Day programme organised by the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI) in association with K-LAMP in Kalaburagi on Monday.

The event was organised at the Sri Srinivasa Raghogi Auditorium of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry where eminent guests inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

In his welcome address, KKCCI honorary secretary Shivraj V. Ingaleshetti welcomed the dignitaries, awardees and participants.

KKCCI president Sharanabasappa M. Pappa, in his introductory remarks, said that the organisation has been consistently honouring women who have rendered distinguished service in society and are contributing to women’s empowerment.

He also highlighted initiatives undertaken to support women and students, including training programmes such as digital marketing.

On the occasion, women achievers from different sectors were honoured with the Mahila Shreshta awards.

The award winners include Shailaja Bekanal (industry), Lakshmi Maka (education), Shobharani (social service), Mohini M.S. (healthcare) and Nanda Shah (art and culture).

Speaking after receiving the award, gynaecologist Bhagyashree S. Patil appreciated the efforts of the organisers in recognising women’s contributions and encouraging empowerment.

She noted that women must strive to identify opportunities even in challenging circumstances and move forward with confidence and determination.

Other speakers emphasised the need for continued efforts towards women’s empowerment and appreciated the Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s initiatives in supporting women-led development.

Several dignitaries, including Sarvamangala Patil, who is the co-founder of Udyama initiative, and Nalini Mahaganvkar of K-LAMP, were honoured during the programme.

The programme featured sharing of experiences by the award winners who spoke about their journey and achievements.

Speakers also underlined the importance of family support, confidence and perseverance in enabling women to succeed across fields.
