Andhra Pradesh Minister for Investments and Infrastructure B.C. Janardhan Reddy on Tuesday said that the Mulapeta greenfield port in Srikakulam district was progressing steadily, with the government aiming to complete the project by December 2026.

Responding to the allegations from the opposition parties, Mr. Janardhan Reddy said the NDA government, under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, had taken up the project on priority and accelerated works after coming to power in 2024. Around 70% of the construction work had been completed so far with an expenditure of ₹1,835 crore.

Referring to the YSRCP claims, the Minister said that official records show that only about 25% of the work had been completed during the previous government’s tenure, with an expenditure of ₹718 crore. “In the last 20 months alone, over 44% of the work has been completed,” the Minister added.

The Minister said key components such as breakwater, dredging, and berth construction had seen significant progress, while onshore and external infrastructure works were also underway. He added that the pending land acquisition, rehabilitation, and connectivity issues were now being addressed.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, he said the project would play a key role in boosting infrastructure and economic growth in the North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
