Nearly 18 years after a cheating case was registered in Mylapore, a city court on Monday convicted four persons for duping several investors by promising high returns from a non-existent vegetable trade, and sentenced them to undergo four-year-imprisonment.

The case was registered in 2008 at the Mylapore police station based on a complaint lodged by M. Kalpana, 29, a resident of Mylapore. Police booked four accused under Sections 120(B) (criminal conspiracy) read with 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code.
