A techie couple ended their lives at an apartment in Kothanur in Bengaluru on March 30.

The deceased have been identified as Bhanu Chander Reddy Kunta (32) and Bibi Shaziya Siraj (31), both natives of Telangana who had moved to the city in August 2025.

The couple had been married for over five years and had no children. Police said they were in a live-in relationship before getting married.

According to the preliminary investigation, Bhanu Chander allegedly ended his life in their residence when Shaziya had reportedly gone out. When Shaziya returned home, she found her husband dead. She is suspected to have jumped from their apartment on the 17th floor of the building.

A note, believed to have been written by Bhanu Chander, was found in the residence.

Police said the couple had been facing marital differences and mental stress. Bhanu Chander worked abroad before he lost his job and returned to India in 2025. He was reportedly unemployed and undergoing treatment for mental health issues. Shaziya had recently taken up a new job at a multinational company in Bengaluru.

Investigators said Shaziya had travelled to Hyderabad last week to visit her mother and returned shortly before the incident.

Two cases of unnatural death have been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. Further investigation is underway, police said.
