Condemning the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife by the US forces, and demanding their release, the CPI-M district committee organised a protest at the Gandhi statue, on Wednesday .

CPI-M district secretary Patrapalli Chandrasekhar alleged that the US was indulging in terrorism with an eye on the oil reserves in Venezuela, while trying to make the people believe that Maduro was ruling the country like a dictator. He said that if there were problems in that country, there were international organisations like the International Court of Justice and the United Nations Organisation (UNO) to deal with them.

He alleged that after coming to power for a second time, US President Donald Trump had announced that he is committed to ensuring world peace, but he instigated six nations into war.

CPI district assistant secretary Kasireddy Satyanarayana, leaders Satyanajaneya, M. Manmadha Rao and N. Nagabushanam were among those who participated in the protest.
