Four policemen, including a sub-inspector, suffered injuries in a blast that occurred in Challapalli police station, in Avanigadda sub-division, in Krishna district on Tuesday (March 31, 2026).

SI Anjaneyulu, court cases monitoring constable Abdullah, head constable Teja and police vehicle driver Nagaraju, suffered injuries in the blast.

The blast occurred when the seized fire crackers stored in the police station exploded when the police were removing them.

The impact of the blast was so high that the slab of the police station and two doors of the building was damaged.

“Of the four policemen, three suffered critical injuries in the blast,” said Krishna district Superintendent of Police V. Vidyasagar Naidu.

“The crackers were seized during a drive and were kept in the police station,” the SP told The Hindu.

Home Minister V. Anitha, inquired about the blast and spoke to the SP to ascertain the intensity of the blast and the condition of the injured policemen.

Krishna district In-charge Minister Vasamsetti Subash enquired about the incident and directed the district officials to provide best treatment to the injured.

Expressing concern over the blast, Mr. Subash, who is also the Labour Minister asked why the seized explosives were stored in the police station and directed the officers to take measures to prevent such incidents in future.
