Ragu The easterly wind component is expected to keep daytime heat and temperatures under control across most parts of Tamil Nadu till April 5, offering residents a break from the soaring temperatures. Meanwhile, parts of the Western Ghats and south coastal Tamil Nadu districts are likely to experience wet weather during the period. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast light to moderate rainfall in Western Ghats and adjoining districts and south coastal Tamil Nadu. A trough in the easterlies extending from Comorin area to north interior Karnataka across Tamil Nadu and wind discontinuity would influence such rainfall. V.R. Durai, Director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, RMC, said rainfall activity in neighbouring States such as Kerala would bring in increased cloud cover to adjoining districts in the State. The dominant easterly wind component would also help keep maximum temperatures under check till Monday across most parts of the State. On Monday, Karur Paramathi recorded the hottest temperature of 39.2 degree Celsius in the State. Many places recorded near normal temperatures or slightly below average maximum temperatures. Though other places, including north T.N., may continue to experience dry weather, temperature may not rise further in north interior places owing to the prevailing weather patterns, he said. Only one or two places in the State may record temperatures, two-to-three-degrees Celsius above average till April 3. Mr. Durai also noted that there is a possibility of scattered rainfall over parts of the State next week as pre-monsoon showers, also called as mango showers, set in. The State has so far registered 4% surplus rainfall this summer since March 1. The RMC has predicted a maximum temperature of 34- 35 degrees Celsius in Chennai on Tuesday.
