Maharashtra Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Monday urged people in the State to apply for piped natural gas (PNG) connections in areas where the service is available within three months or risk losing their liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) connection.

“Start applying before June 30. In case you have applied for the connection but the PNG pipeline is under way, then your LPG connection will not be discontinued. However, if you never applied, then LPG supply will be stopped after three months,” Mr. Bhujbal said.

The statement came after the Minister attended a meeting with Union Ministers in the national capital to review measures for smooth LPG supply to domestic and commercial consumers. LPG shortage has been reported in several districts of Maharashtra amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
