Seven persons, including a private bank employee and an engineering student, were arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman and her daughter at their house in Saligramam and damaging property over a parking dispute. The police said that on March 28, Suvarnalakshmi, 42, found a two-wheeler parked in front of their apartment, blocking access. Her family locked the vehicle with an iron chain. After some time, two women confronted Suvarnalakshmi and her mother over this. Though they handed over the key, one of the women allegedly abused and assaulted them. When Suvarnalakshmi and her parents went to the police station to lodge a complaint, a group entered her house, vandalised objects with rods, assaulted a minor boy, and fled in her car. Based on her complaint, the Virugambakkam police arrested seven persons, including Sharmila, 25, and her brother, Bhavesh, 23. The stolen car was recovered.
