Celebrated during the spring season, the festival, also known as ‘Upasamanotsavam,’ symbolises relief from the summer heat for the deities. Special offerings of fragrant flowers and a variety of fruits marked the occasion. The mandapam was elaborately decorated to resemble the Seshachalam forests, with artistic depictions of a wide variety of animals and birds. Lord Malayappa, along with His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, was taken in a procession to the Vasantha Mandapam. Following prescribed rituals, priests ceremoniously performed Snapana Tirumanjanam in the afternoon, amid the chanting of Vedic hymns by a group of scholars. Later in the evening, the deities were taken back to the temple in a grand procession. Among those present were Pedda Jeeyar Swamy, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, TTD Executive Officer M. Ravichandra, Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, board members and other officials.
