As migratory birds begin their return journey to northern breeding grounds, flycatchers are once again being sighted at the Pallikaranai marshland, a wetland that continues to hold its ground amid growing urban pressures.

K.V.R.K. Thirunaranan of The Nature Trust, which has been documenting birdlife in Pallikaranai for the past 15 years with the support of the Forest Department, observed the presence of birds such as Asian brown flycatcher, Indian paradise flycatcher, brown-breasted flycatcher.
