Rajya Sabha member Beeda Mastan Rao has denied any link to the recent incident involving the disappearance of boats at Juvvaladinne in Nellore district. Addressing a media conference here on Sunday, Mr. Mastan Rao said he was ready to resign his MP post and even quit politics if proven otherwise.

Questioning the need for dragging his name into the unnecessary controversy, he accused a section of his political opponents of spreading false propaganda against him and asserted that he had maintained close ties with fishing communities for over four decades.

Clarifying the allegation, the MP said he had not spoken to any individual named Thotaiah for the past six months. Referring to certain videos in circulation, he said that he too had seen them and claimed that the name ‘BMR’ was mentioned only after repeated questioning.

It is part of a long-standing inter-State dispute involving Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh, which has persisted for 30 to 40 years.
