TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday (March 29) said the number of Assembly seats would increase by 50% after the delimitation of constituencies.

Participating in the TDP’s 44th formation day celebrations at the party’s central office near Mangalagiri in Guntur district, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said the delimitation was a great opportunity for aspiring leaders, but only those who really do hard work would be rewarded.

He said he doesn’t need leaders who don’t care for the party, pointing out that though TDP emerged unscathed from multiple crises, there was no scope for complacency.

TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh would identify those who strive for the party’s growth and give them due recognition, Mr. Naidu said, calling for upholding the ‘TDP brand’, which, he said, was assiduously cultivated over the years.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said the TDP’s ideology and its victories and journey have all been sensational and it should continue to be so in espousal of N.T. Rama Rao’s ideals.

He recalled that NTR had pioneered many welfare schemes, and he was so popular that people took to the streets when his government was dismissed in blatant disregard of the Constructional tenets.

The ₹2 – a- kg rice scheme introduced by the TDP 40 years ago became the National Food Security Act, and the property rights for women were later adopted as a law by the Centre.

The TDP gave political power to the Backward Classes, ensured justice for the Scheduled Castes and changed the lives of the Scheduled Tribes by providing lands and various schemes, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu noted.

He pointed out that attempts to finish off the TDP in 2019-24 failed as the party stood united and thwarted the plans of its rival YSRCP, which tried to obstruct Mr. Lokesh’s Yuva GalamPadayatra, but to no avail.

The TDP-JSP-BJP alliance achieved an unprecedented victory in the 2024 elections and the government has kept all its promises in spite of severe constraints.

“TDP is committed to ‘development politics’. It will shape Amaravati into a world-class capital city and make Andhra Pradesh a progressive State”, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu added.

In his speech, Mr. Lokesh said the TDP had played a crucial role in the formation of Union governments in the past and it was poised to be a force to reckon with for many more years to come. TDP State president Palla Srinivasa Rao and other leaders took part.
