ASHOK Palm Sunday, which celebrates the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, was observed by Christians across Madurai with special prayers. It is the final Sunday of the Lenten season, the 40-day period of fasting and repentance that began on Ash Wednesday and would conclude before Easter. Palm Sunday also marks the beginning of the holy week that leads to Easter Sunday.
