The Udupi district police have arrested three persons on the charges of cattle theft and slaughter in Shirlalu village of Karkala taluk. Two among them and another person have been booked under Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA). In a press note, the police said three head of cattle were stolen from the cowshed of Jayashree at Shirlalu village on September 29, 2025 and the cattle were slaughtered. A case was registered at the Ajekar Police Station for offences under Sections 329(3), 329(4), 309, 324(4) r/w 3(5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Sections 3 and 25 of Indian Arms Act and Section 11 (1)(D) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
