Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party for not acting on the Telangana government’s request for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the alleged irregularities in the execution of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme by the BRS government.

He recalled how Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah described the Kaleshwaram project as an ATM for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in the run-up to the previous elections. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy went a step ahead claiming that he would ensure a speedy trial into the case for bringing BRS leaders to book once the State requests the probe.

He was responding to BJP member Katepalli Venkata Ramana Reddy’s request to listen to the suggestions of BJP members in the legislative assembly on Sunday. He said it had become a habit for the BJP to make suggestions and run away later when it mattered. “We have ordered a full-scale CBI probe eight months ago. But it has been inordinately delayed with not a single step initiated in that direction by the CBI,” he said.

The Chief Minister alleged that the collusion between the BJP and the BRS was evident from the manner in which the CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram project irregularities continues to be pending. “Mr. Kishan Reddy should ensure that the inquiry starts so that we can listen to your suggestions,” he said.
