Four children of a single family drowned in farm pond in Yadgir district

In a tragic incident, four children of a single family drowned in a Krishi Honda (farm pond) in an agriculture field in Naganur village in Shorapur taluk of Yadgir district on Sunday (March 29, 2026). The deceased have been identified as six-year-old Kiran S/o Mallappa, an 11-year-old Basamma D/o Basappa, a six-year-old Sharat and a seven-year-old Hanumesh sons of Raju.

Sharat and Hanumesh are own brothers and sons of Raju, Basamma is daughter of Basappa, who is brother of Raju while Kiran is son of Mallappa, who is Raju and Basappa’s sister’s husband.

Initial reports suggest that all children were gone for swimming and drowned one after another without knowing the depth of the pond. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police of Shorapur Javeed Inamdar visited spot

The Kembhavi police registered a case and launched investigation.
