TVK leader Vijay is attracting people not as an actor but as a politician: Praveen Chakravarty

People are thronging the public meetings of actor-turned-politician Vijay as they see him now as an agent of change, claimed Praveen Chakravarty, chairperson of the All India Professionals’ Congress and the Chairman of the Data Analytics department.

Vijay has turned into a political force in the State, he said while interacting with the media at a private hotel in the city. He added that the Congress party in the State had weakened over the last 60 years and the time has now come to strengthen it. He also admitted to having met with Vijay, but claimed it was a purely personal meeting. On the question of crowds gathering at the TVK rallies and public meetings, he said that people have started seeing Mr. Vijay as a political leader.

Mr. Chakravarty said that Congress must seek share in power in the State as it is crucial for strengthening the party.

On Congress MP Karti Chidambaram’s statement that Praveen Chakravarty’s opinion’s on alliance need not be taken seriously, he said while the question of alliance will be decided by the Congress high command, every cadre of the party had the right to place their demands before the Congress.
